Voices - Time of Action: NPT, Youth Award, Nuclear Prayer Day

Voices members attend the Treaty on the Non- Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons holding its 2026 Review Conference at the UN Headquarters.

As the NPT Review Conference convenes beginning April 27 and continuing over the next month, Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons invites you to pray each day for the NPT to fulfill its obligations to negotiate in good faith toward nuclear disarmament.  Recite the Nuclear Prayer, offer your own prayers, or use the following prayer written by Voices member Michael Ramos to invite your continuing meditations for peace.

May peace in a world without nuclear weapons prevail on Earth!

Voices and SGI led an Interfaith Vigil on April 29 at the Interfaith Chapel across the street from the United Nations, in conjunction with the Nonproliferation Treaty’s (NPT) Review Conference. We felt the power of prayer from several religious traditions, held silence and recited the Nuclear Prayer together. In the midst of contentious interventions among some nation-states in the General Assembly hall, we created a small zone of peace, a peace that anticipates a world free of nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Prayer Day 2026:

Global Days of Prayer and Action, August 6-9

The crane and peace bell represent our urgent, unwavering clarion call to the conscience of humanity
The crane and peace bell represent our urgent, unwavering clarion call to the conscience of humanity

Remembering the unspeakable death and devastation inflicted upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, we stand together to declare: nuclear weapons must never be used again—and they must be eliminated entirely. Not only their use, but their testing, production, modernization, stockpiling, and possession must end. The continued existence of nuclear weapons—whether deployed, stored, or tested—places all life at risk. We refuse to accept a world held hostage to annihilation.

We gather so that future generations may live free from the shadow of nuclear threat.
